My first foray into the world of blogging #new #followme #nutrition
Well here goes, my first ever blog...
Please bear with me, I am a complete newbie to all this, hopefully I will get the hang of it and with time get better!
I am not going to write about anything specifically to do with nutrition today -all that will come later, but just want to say a bit more about me and my business. Everything is very new for me at the moment - certainly in terms of social media, I can safely say the learning curve is very steep... As I am about to embark on this journey as a freelance dietitian, I thought it would be good if you could get to know a bit more about me, why I am doing this and I guess what I want to achieve.
If you have read my website you will know that I am a UK-registered dietitian who is now living in France, as far as I can tell there aren't any others here. I am hoping that I will be able to provide a service to English-speaking people living here, providing advice and information that is safe and evidence-based. I am a member of both the British Dietetic Association (BDA) and Health Care Professions Council (HCPC). These regulatory bodies protect the general public as they ensure all their members adhere to professional and ethical codes of conduct.
I have worked as a dietitian since I qualified in 2001 and spent most of my professional career based in Leeds working in the city's 2 main hospitals. Here I worked right across the age-span from extremely premature babies right up to older people. One of the great things about working in a large teaching hospital is you really get to see EVERYTHING and meet all kinds of incredible people. All this has experience has given me the expertise and confidence to help you with your nutrition.
Now I have left the NHS behind and am really excited about life as a freelancer using technology such as Skype to connect me with you wherever you are in France, the UK or indeed the world.
I hope you will find my journey interesting, the world of nutrition and its impact on our health is so huge. I will try my best to make sense of the science and share my thoughts and findings with you.
